Michigan Sports Radio
was actually started as RamsRadio
in December of 2005, by Brock Konkle and Paul Stabile. After
working radio
together for a year, they were having a conversation one day
and thought it would be a neat experience for people to be
able to
listen to and support their alma mater not only locally but anywhere
around the world.
After some research they decided to start broadcasting
games for Rockford as an audiocast. Not only did they
achieve their initial
goal but through their streaming company had the ability to
archive the games which meant now people can listen to the
game not only
live but anytime they want. All of a sudden it took off and
other schools showed interest in having their games audiocast,
thus Michigansportsradio.com
was
born.
Not only did this provide a unique experience
for the listeners but also after talking with several marketing
companies
an
advertising package was developed which provides the advertiser
with four means
of advertising exposure. When advertisers started complimenting
on the success of the exposure they received we knew we had
come up with a product, which appeals to everyone. Michigansportsradio
also donates a portion of their advertising dollar back to
the
local high schools athletic programs.
The key players to our
team are as follows. |
Brock Konkle
... graduated
from Rockford High School in 1983 followed by Hope College
in 1987. After being
a teacher and coach for ten years
Brock decided to go into business for himself by starting
a screen printing company. He got his start in broadcasting
from Rick
Berkey and has been broadcasting high school sports for three
years. He enjoys the opportunity to give back to sports what
he got out of it and is priviledged to provide this opportunity
to the different schools which are not part of our broadcast
network. |
Paul Stabile
... spent
10 years performing a variety of play by play duties in Cadillac
and the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Paul has covered
all 4 major
sports at the high school, college and Ontario Major Junior
A levels including some cable tv broadcasts. Stabile even hosted
the coverage for the International 500 snowmobile race in
Sault Ste Marie. A career change brought about a 7 year hiatus from
broadcasting until being paired with Brock Konkle to provide
play by play for Forest Hills Schools last year. That experience
lead to helping Konkle in the creation of Michigan Sports Radio.com
in which we hope this is only the beginning! |
Steve Lloyd Jones
... is a graduate
of Central Michigan University. Steve has
been a part of the professional sports broadcasting scene in
GR since 1997. His past experience
includes play by play announcing for the
West Michigan Whitecaps, Grand Rapids Hoops, and Cornerstone
University, along with many
high school games. Steve is currently involved
with Grand Valley St. University as a television show host,
game announcer, and producer.
He and his wife Penny have been married for
over 6 years and have a daughter named Evelyn. |
|
Ken Clemens
... has a long history of
coaching all around the state, starting with football and basketball
at Flint Southwestern and Swartz Creek. Ken then moved to West
Michigan in 1977 where he began a long run as Assistant Principal
at Northview High School. During his time at Northview, Ken
was also very active supporting Northview Athletics where he
served a couple of stints as head basketball coach. Ken is
now enjoying his "retirement" in Holland by handling
play-by-play duties for West Ottawa and some Northview games. |
Ross
M.
.... will graduate from Rockford
High School in 2007, and he has been a part
of the Michigan Sports Radio team since our inaugural broadcast.
He works as a play-by-play announcer and also as a commentator
on our weekly talk show. In addition to his work at Michigan
Sports Radio, Ross also works as a sports writer for the Rockford
Independent Newspaper. He plans to study Journalism at Michigan
State University and looks forward to being a part of the continual
growth of Michigan Sports Radio. |
Mike Wells
I am senior at Grand Valley State University,
and I'm majoring in
broadcasting. Sports are my passion, so I would like to get
into sports
broadcasting. Therefore I am really fired up about getting
the opportunity
to work for michigansportsradio.com. I would like to do play-by-play,
studio work, sideline reporting, or maybe work behind the scenes.
I'm just
anxious to start a career. |
Heidi Haas-Shosten
...
is a native Rockford resident, graduated from Rockford High
School “when
it was located on the corner of 10 mile and Wolverine Blvd.
if that tells you anything!” She obtained
her Bachelors in marketing degree from Davenport University
and has been self-employed as an independent contract sales
person
since graduating from college. “My family and most
of my high school friends live in here, and I am lucky to
still be
in touch with all of them-and their kids!” “My
own daughter Suraya, starts middle school this year.” “She
looks forward to helping us with some 78ers coverage.” “ When
Brock initially approached me with his part-time hobby turned
full-time job, I thought two things right away-what a great
idea! And why didn’t someone think of this before?
Like… me,
for example?” “I love being part of a program that
gives small and large businesses alike the chance to have an
all encompassing, affordable marketing opportunity, while helping
to
support local athletes and far-away fans all at the same time.” “It
is a great fit and everyone wins.” Go Rams!!!! |
